Beloved,
I’ve always written poems of devotion. My teacher Marc Gafni calls them Outrageous Love Letters. The one below I wrote for my future husband, but I realize they are meant for everyone as they are always for the Divine Love that is present in each and every human being. I hope it inspires you to practice devotion and love. Because only surrender makes life meaningful, only surrender is what ends all suffering. A marriage between a man and a woman is meant to practice this holy devotion. To have a sacred marriage, we must project the qualities of divinity on our spouses and completely devote ourselves to them.
Unfortunately, we forgot how to surrender. Our ego’s are too big. We think we know everything better, we always want to be right. We have all sorts of expectations and needs to be met, before we even consider surrender. “My husband must take out the garbage before I know I can trust him.” Well what if you choose to trust him first, surrender to him, share your divine femininity with him. You think he would not take out the garbage after that? What if you would start giving first?
I invite you to next time when you are in a fight or struggle with your Beloved, instead of trying to be right, just kneel down before your Beloved and say “Okay, so maybe I don’t know. I trust you to know me better than I know myself. Tell me what you see in me”. And notice how every cell in your body might start fighting and resisting this surrender. Stay present and open. If you are humble like this, love and wisdom will start pouring over you in no time and all your expectations WILL be met. It is just completely the other way around than you thought it would be. God can only give you what you want, if you are receptive. So open your hands and heart, and say “I am willing to receive guidance, love and wisdom”.
Amen to that!
My dear Beloved
my Man
my Husband
my Master
my Teacher
